Keep Them Looking Posh
Care Instructions
I know, nobody wants to read a laundry manual. But these are handmade, and a little bit of care goes a long way in keeping the colors bright and the fabric good as new. So here's the quick rundown.
Hand Washing (my personal favorite)
- Fill a sink with cold water.
- Add a mild detergent — something gentle, made for delicates.
- Swish it around to get some suds going.
- Dunk the bandana in and gently move it around. No scrubbing, no wringing — just let the water do the work.
- Let it soak for a few minutes.
- Rinse in cold water until the detergent's all out.
- Press out the extra water between two clean, dry towels.
- Lay it flat to dry and reshape it while it's still damp. Don't hang it wet — it'll stretch out of shape.
- Once it's completely dry, iron out any remaining wrinkles on low/medium heat. Just don't iron the scrunchie band piece, otherwise the elastic in there may melt.
Machine Washing (if you're short on time)
- Toss it in a mesh laundry bag so it doesn't snag on anything.
- Cold water setting, always.
- Gentle or delicate cycle — nothing aggressive.
- A mild detergent for delicates.
- Run the cycle.
- Pull it out right away once it's done, so it doesn't sit and wrinkle.
- Press out the extra water between two clean, dry towels.
- Lay it flat to dry, reshaping as you go. Skip hanging it wet.
- Once it's completely dry, iron out any remaining wrinkles on low/medium heat. Just don't iron the scrunchie band piece, otherwise the elastic in there may melt.
Important Notes
- No bleach or harsh chemicals — it'll mess with the fabric and the color.
- Keep it away from zippers, hooks, or anything rough in the wash that could snag it.
- Skip the dryer entirely. Heat can shrink it or warp the shape.
Just a few extra steps will keep your bandana looking just as good as the day it showed up on your porch.
