The First Market Playbook

Digital download A workbook + toolkit you get instantly at checkout — nothing ships.
You've made the thing. Now there's a market on the calendar and a hundred questions nobody prepared you for — what to charge, how much to bring, how to build a booth people actually stop at. This is the part I had to figure out the hard way, laid out so you don't have to.

Is This You?

If you're nodding at more than one of these, you're exactly who I built this for.

You've got a market coming up — or you want to book one — and the to-do list is a fog.

You know it's a lot, you just can't see the order of it yet.

Pricing your own work makes you a little queasy.

You're either guessing, or charging so little you're basically working for free.

You have no idea how much to actually make.

So you either over-make and burn out, or under-make and sell out by 11am.

You want a booth people walk up to.

Not one you stand behind hoping someone makes eye contact.

You've watched other makers do this and thought "how do they know all that?"

They don't have a secret. They just did it once before you did.

Everything Inside

Start from your market date and count backwards. The sequence never changes — only the spacing does. Seven modules take you from "I think I want to do a market" all the way to "here's what I'd change next time."

Module01

Pick & Vet Your Market

How to find markets worth your time, size them up before you apply, and actually get accepted.

8–12 weeks out
Module02

Price Your Products

The pricing calculator that ends the guessing — so you're covering costs and paying yourself, not just breaking even.

6–8 weeks out
Module03

Make Your Inventory

How much to actually bring, so you're not over-making yourself into the ground or selling out in the first hour.

4–8 weeks out
Module04

Build & Plan Your Booth

Layout, the editable sign templates, and the small things that make someone stop instead of drift past.

2–4 weeks out
Module05

Pack & Prep

The master packing list, so you're not up at midnight the night before wondering what you forgot.

The week of
Module06

Working the Booth

What to do — and what to say — from setup to teardown, including the awkward "just looking" moments.

The day of
Module07

The Debrief

The after-market template that turns your first market into your second one being noticeably better.

After
Market coming up fast? Don't panic and don't skip steps — just compress them. The order is what matters, not the number of weeks. Even if your market is next week, you can still pick it, price your stuff, make what you can, build your booth, pack, and show up. A compressed first market still counts.

Mia
Meet your guide

I made every mistake so you could have this shortcut.

I'm Mia — I built The Posh Pup Collective selling dog bandanas at markets long before it was anything close to full-time. My first market, I brought the wrong amount of everything, priced half my stuff wrong, and spent the whole day figuring out what I should've known before I set up.

This is the playbook I wish someone had handed me. Not theory, not a guru speech — just everything I got wrong, turned into a countdown you can actually follow!

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this just for dog bandanas?
Not at all! It's for any maker selling a physical product at an in-person market — candles, jewelry, ceramics, baked goods, all of it. Bandanas are just where I learned every lesson in here.
I've never done a market before. Is this too advanced?
It's built for market number one. If anything, it's for the person who's never done one and wants to walk in feeling like they've already done it once.
What if my market is next week?
There's a note for exactly that. The order of the steps matters more than the number of weeks — you compress the countdown, you don't skip it. A compressed first market still counts.
Is it a PDF or a course?
It's a workbook PDF plus a spreadsheet and editable templates — no logins, no videos to sit through. You work through it at your own pace and grab each tool when the workbook points you to it.
Can I use the templates for my own business?
Yes — reuse them market after market for your own shop! The one ask: please don't share the files or links with anyone else. If a maker friend would love it, send them here to grab their own copy.
What do I need to use it?
Just something to open a PDF, and a free Canva account for the editable signs and checklists. The spreadsheet works in Excel or Google Sheets.
What's your refund policy?
Because this is a digital download, it's final sale for US customers. Questions before you buy? Email me at help@theposhpupcollective.com and I'm happy to help.
For EU and International customers, you may withdraw within 14 days of purchase in accordance with EU consumer protection law, unless you've downloaded the files and waived that right at checkout. To start a withdrawal request, use the link in the footer of this site.
